Mississippi offers one of the best workforce training programs in the nation.  Through local partnerships with WIN Job Centers, Colleges and Universities, Mississippi is able to offer businesses full-scale customized training programs, which can involve assistance from the first advertisement for new hires to continuing education for experienced employees.

WIN Job Centers provide a convenient one-stop employement and training services to businesses and job seekers.  WIN Job Centers provide customers easy access to services in the areas of employment, training, education, human services and economic development.

WIN Job Centers provide a range of services and training opportunities to help businesses meet their human resources recruiting, screening, and training needs.  Unless otherwise stated, services are provided at no cost to businesses and individuals, Available services include:

  • Internet access to post job listings and review resumes
  • Database of qualified workers
  • Recruiting and screen of job candidates
  • Proficiency testing for employees
  • On-the-Job customized training assistance
  • Information on "Work Opportunity Tax Credits" (WOTC)
  • Form and guidance for filing a Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) petition

For Job Seekers
Available services that your local WIN Job Center may provide to job seekers include:

  • Resume preparation assistance
  • Job search and placement assistance
  • Internet access for job searches and resume posting
  • Access to office equipment (computer, fax machine, copier & telephones)
  • Information and referral to training
  • Information on and referral to child care, transportation and other support services

Holmes Community College/Workforce Development
The Workforce Development Program at the Holmes Community College is dedicated to improving the economy in each district by strengthening the professional capacities of the current and future workforce.  Holmes Community College Workforce Development Center provides the following customized services:

  • Career Counseling
  • Job referrals
  • Basic skills/GED testing
  • Referrals to full-time vocational and technical programs
  • Short-term adult training
