Adequate and efficient utilities are necessary in the running of everyday life for a business. Attala County has well known providers of electricity, telecommunications, and natural gas. Customer service is a priority in the delivery of utility services.



Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production,  retail distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, and it is the second-largest nuclear generator in the United States. Entergy delivers electricity to 2.7 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.  Entergy has annual revenues of over $11 billion and approximately 14,300 employees.  Entergy Mississippi serves approximately 408,000 customers in 45 of Mississippi 82 counties. Entergy's customers fit into three categories: residential, commercial, and industrial.

Central Electric Power Association, formed in 1937, has been at the forefront of providing reliable electric service to 34,000 member-consumers in Attala, Leake, Newton, Neshoba, Rankin, Scott and Kemper Counties in Mississippi. 
Kosciusko Water & Light, formed in 1948, as a municipal utility owned and operated by the City of  Kosciusko serving electricity and water to the residents of Kosciusko. We are a Public Power community. Kosciusko Water & Light is a member of a joint action agency, the Municipal Energy Agency of Mississippi (MEAM) composed of five (5) other cities (Greenwood, Canton, Leland, Itta Bena, & Durant). We serve most of the residences and businesses with in the City Limits of Kosciusko. Kosciusko Water & Light is responsible for 34 employees.

Waste Water & Sewer

Attala County is blessed with abundant supplies of high quality groundwater. The county is served by several rural water systems and four municipal systems. Kosciusko Water and Light serves most of the industrial sites in Attala County. This system has a capacity of 3,700,000 gallons per day with peak consumption of 2,500,000 gallons per day. 500,000 gallon elevated water tanks are located in both industrial parks. The City of Kosciusko provides wastewater collection and treatment to the two industrial parks. The treatment system consists of lagoons and the present maximum load uses 80% of capacity.


Natural Gas

Natural gas is distributed by Atmos Energy.  Atmos Energy is the largest natural-gas-only distributor in the United States. Our regulated distribution operations deliver natural gas to 3.2 million residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and public-authority customers. Our distribution services are provided to more than 1,600 communities in 12 states.
